Visit Graveyard The Illustrious, in the center of San Salvador which houses beautiful sculptures white marble mausoleums of artistic and historical value that hold the remains of members of wealthy families and people from the political, cultural and literary context of El Salvador. This is a historical and cultural tour that shows the roots of the Salvadoran people and the contribution that many characters left a legacy in our country. It is said that in 1913 this cemetery was named “Pantheon of Great Men” by an opinion of the Legislative Assembly following the funeral of Manuel Enrique Araujo.
This site is home to many legendary figures, among them we can find to “Luperca” better known as “La Loba” suckling Romulus and Remus, the “La Novia” (Lidia S. López Crystals) sculpture in honor of the deceased in 1924, former President Francisco Morazán, Manuel Enrique Araujo, and many others. This is definitely an experience out of the ordinary truly enriching.
